Kohinoor

                                                                                                            Grace, elegance and charm

Of affection and love that’s warm

She shines bright like a diamond.

                                                                                                             Illuminating her generations with virtues

A special one that none would refuse

Through cuts, polishes and varied stages

And through all the womanly ages

From carbon to a diamond

Through adversities of nature

She takes her grandmotherly stature

A mother bird that flies to her nest

Picking food out of the best

Over these years until an Octogenerian

She has collected innumerable a treasure

For her generations that are four to measure

Like a daughter, an epitome of hope

A dearly sister, she sympathises with you to cope

She’s a beautiful wife with a heart full of love

Truly a mother with empathy

She’s those two aunts that inspire positivity

An affectionate grandmother with time tested wisdom

She’s the great grandmother with tales of an old kingdom

Great grandmother or grandmother , if you ponder

There’s a mother if you may wonder!

And just like the tree she stands tall

Her fruits and flowers, as she bears them all

Through her roots that draw the best

Her trunk stands the time’s test

To give back in all glory

What she received from the Earth’s lorry

 ‘Rajmati’ as we vouch

Draped in elegance

She takes her place on the velvet couch

‘Kohinoor’, a gem of pride

Except she’s truly on our side

LOCKDOWN 2020

A world that once spun madly
with bustling cities and booming populations
Economies that chimed endlessly
like a spinning top that tumbled
Now had stood still
A year once envisioned to bring a new dawn
Saw sleepless nights

Humans retreated back to their homes
Motors remained parked in garages
Markets had closed their shutters
Eventually economies dwindled
The coins no more chimed

Homes turned into offices
Executives worked behind screens
Classrooms became virtual
Playgrounds remained empty
As PlayStations took life
A new world was born, of virtual reality

As the skies and oceans turned blue and clearer
The once invisible Dhauladhar seemed nearer
The white capped eagle soared the cold skies again
Dolphins returned to the Hoogly river
Probably a one last show of their lost glory
Venetian lagoons saw life again in its waters
As mankind took a pause
Recapturing its space Nature had clenched its claws

For a change people lived well
Suppressed hobbbies were rekindled
Hidden talents found a new stage
Men tried dominating their hands in the kitchen too
But nevertheless women didnt get to rest
While the rich rejoiced in plenty
The poor and migrants remianed stranded in this lockdown's reality

Now the police continue to man territories
Leaders emphasize on social distancing
Hospitals treat only one virus
And doctors have sacrificed their lives to a white overall
As nature builds its own civilization

Is there hope to break from these confiements?
Or is it just foolish optimism?
Is this the beginning of the end?
Or a beginning of a new normalcy?

All those who rest in peace
Rest for the better
For they are free from the evil shackles of nature
And some never had to see their dreams shatter

This poem was written on a nighty duty that I was posted for in an isolation ward of covid positive cases. Myself being in a PPE kit, unable to sleep I though it was a good idea to pen down my thoughts on the current lockdown.

Infected

Wandering away with a cold heart
Within my world of dampened colors
Wondering if i needed love
I thought it was too soon.
And when my eyes met yours
Needless to say it was you that i needed all along, the sun to my moon

You were the reason
My heart felt a little
My lips smiled more often
My eyes ,ever gleamed.
You were the one
who made me feel the breeze and rain
Illuminating with eternal bliss
over my dark hollows you beamed.

How do I tell that I secretly adore
Your shying away ,when I love you
I'm head over heels
when you smile and sweetly say you do too
As your hair gently moves with the wind
You blow me a kiss and put me in a heavenly whirlwind

As you walk away smirkingly
I still adore you
For you will come back.
Sometimes i'm scared and insecure
That you'll be gone forever
If tomorrow never comes
Everday,I shall love with a heart so pure.

Cities apart
Distance is the preaching friend
Tell her you love her ,everday
Even when its needless to say
Anchoring our bond to the ground
In love we're locked down

So hold my hand and help me paint
A love life so quaint
On the canvas of trust and faith
That we may tear seven and repaint ,times eight

And the world will say
We're infected, lovingly so

Happy Anniversary, Rucha
I Love You

The Life Lessons You Had

I reminisce the morning walks with you dad
Holding hands we would brisk uphill
Trying to keep pace with you
Sometimes I lagged behind a step or two

For a while you carried me in your arms
Then put me back to ground
Saying ' Come on walk, we're near now lad'
And all along I learnt the life lessons you had

When you held my hand
I felt your support like a wall for the vine
Today, I still do
And I know it will last for tomorrow too

As I kept pace with you
I learnt not to stop
You inspired me
To  not bend a knee

When you carried me
I knew I could rely on you
In the hard times, you would be my saviour
Isn't that dependant a child's behaviour?

But when you put me down
I had to be independent
I learnt to be strong
To be fearless as I walked along

In this game of life
Good and bad as things might be
You showed me the silver lining
Yet cautioning me of the lightning

Whatever I am
And whoever I might be
I owe it all to you dad
And to the life lessons that you had

Happy father's day

For Mom

You are the sweetness of honey
The tang of lime
You are the fragrance of the rose
The song's rhythm and rhyme

You are the color on the canvas
The drop in the rain
You are the brick in the wall
You are my loss and my gain

You are the light in my darkness
The eternal sunshine
The possible in impossible
You are the seconds of my time

You are the courage in my actions
The motivation of my spirit
You are the inspiration of my thoughts
The strength of my grit

Aai you are the fundamental of our lives
Thank You for always being there for us
We love you
Happy mother's day 10/5/15

The Bright Light Of Belief

Lost in a maze
Of walls that confuse me deeper
Blown into the storm
It's spiral that gets no sweeter
This situation's a haze
Unaware of what went wrong

I try to escape
This dark cage of uncertainty
On the last hope
Judging my own ability
My eyes wide awake
I look through the rescue scope

I behold a glimmering light
The bright light of belief
Unfading to the strongest blow
Shown on me, conveying me to believe
Through the dark and the glaring snow
Through the fray, through the last good fight

 I've unlocked the cage
The walls begin to tumble down
The dark’s fading to light
The storm has brought me to ground
I've flipped past life's one page
I've lasted the truth's fight

Live For Today

Once in a while like the rain
Memories pour into the much occupied brain
Of the joyous days, of the good times you had
They appear in endless way, with laughter clad
Spreading across each cell
Like the warm muddy smell
Soaking you wet until no thought left
You wait for a flood to sweep you back there
But neither the flood nor the wind takes you anywhere
Wishing to turn back time
You realize it’s not in the hands of mine
Live for this day, live for today
Let memories be made to cherish forever
For you know, it’s now or never!
